How to Pay for Fuel

For company drivers, this guide provides details on using Relay for making payments at truck stops.

1. How to pay with fuel code?

When you arrive at the fueling stop, open the Relay app and go to the 'Codes' tab. Tap on the 'Fuel stop code' card to authorize your code.

On the next page, choose your specific fueling stop location from the list and enter the required data to complete authorization.

NOTE: Daily limits reset at 12 AM ET and Weekly Limits reset on Sundays at 12 AM ET. Resets can take up to 15-20 minutes to process.

Note: You must be physically at the fuel stop to authorize your code. If you're having internet connectivity issues, try moving closer to the location or stepping out of your truck for a better signal.


Choose whether you want to "Pay at the pump" or "Pay inside." Some fuel stops may only offer one of these options.

After you unlock the 'Code Details' page with the 12-digit code, follow the instructions provided in the app. It's important to note that different fuel companies have different instructions. Always read and follow the instructions on the "Code Details" page carefully.

When you’re done fueling, your receipt will be in the History tab of the app. This may take up to 15 minutes to appear.


2. How to pay with a one-time fuel code?

If a one-time fuel code is available, it can be used at any Fuel stop in the Relay network to purchase Diesel, DEF, Reefer, or Gas.

Note: One-time fuel code can be used only once. If you don't use the full limit in one purchase, the remaining balance cannot be used later.

After arriving at the fueling stop, open the Relay app and go to the 'Codes' tab, and tap on the 'Fuel stop code' card. On the next page, choose “One-time fuel code” from the payment options list.

Choose whether you want to "Pay at the pump" or "Pay inside." Some fuel stops may only offer one of these options.

After you unlock the 'One-time fuel code' page with the 12-digit code, follow the instructions provided in the app.

When you’re done fueling, your receipt will be in the History tab of the app.

Note: If your administrator has constrained your code to a single location, you will not be able to use the code elsewhere.


3. How to pay with a one-time cash code?

If a one-time cash code is available you can be used at any Pilot Flying J to get cash, make in-store purchases, or buy fuel.

Note: One-time cash code can be used only once. If you don't use the full limit in one purchase, the remaining balance cannot be used later.

4. How to pay at Pilot?

Pay at the pump

If you want to pay at the pump, first enter the start code (73529) on the pump keypad. You will then be asked to enter your Pilot ‘myRewards’ card number, swipe your card, or press skip. After this, enter your 12-digit fuel code and press ‘Enter.’ Select your fuel type and start pumping until you see the instruction on the pump: ‘Remove Nozzle.

Pay inside

If you want to pay inside, let the cashier know you are paying with ‘Cardless trucking companies Relay’ (they must select ‘Corporate Item’). Then, enter your Relay Code on the pin pad at the counter.

Note: If the cashier is having issues have them call the Pilot HELP DESK.


5. How to pay at Maverik?

Pay only at the pump

Relay Codes are only accepted at the pump at Maverik locations. Press AUTH CODE and enter your 12-digit fuel code on the pump keypad to start pumping.


6. How to pay at Roady's?

Pay only inside

Provide your 12-digit fuel code to the fuel counter and let them know it goes in the DFS tablet.
